Ranger, I'm afraid I had to cheat and use Google, but I found your reference to "wernicke's area". Here's the entry in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary:

"an area of the brain that is located in the posterior left temporal lobe and is associated with comprehension of language"

Named after Karl Wernicke (1848-1905), a German physician, anatomist, psychiatrist and neuropathologist. Good one. You must be in a medical-related field.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I need to send the breeder a D name soon. FCI requires all litters to be register by 8 weeks old, with names.
I'm glad we get to pick. Sometimes they come with the oddest names.
We are kinda leaning towards Dax. We can always give him a different call name. Sometimes you just have to have the little bugger a week or so before you can "see" who they are.

Ha, Evanston! Very good. I am a speech and language pathologist so we have Wernicke's Area for the comprehension of language plus Broca's area for the production. Broca was English, so no dibs. Wernicke would have worked great for Werner or Nicky as nicknames. Alas, no one else in my family found the humor as much as I did.

The hubby is still undecided.
He is waiting for a picture of our new boy to see what he looks like.
You know, get a feel of personality.

Ive always liked 2 syllable names seems the dogs respond well to them, like Dasco, Declan, Dazzler/Dazzle"Daz" for short.

Diablo, Domino, Dozer, Duffy and Duke are all good to.

Doc or Dash for the 1 syllable names..

Hope that helps Francine.
