Our 2 1/2 year old female GSP has started to grind her teeth and it drives us crazy when she does it. Usually in the morning when she stretches and yawns and then closes her mouth and she grinds them as she does this.  It's not a constant thing, but the sound is worse than fingersnails scraping on a blackboard.  Anyone else?

Sorry i cant help, but just wanted to let you know you're not alone in wondering about this - Keely also does the same. I think she also does it when closing after a yawn. It actually sets me on edge when she does it

Miss you forever Kintra baby xxx

Haven't experienced the grinding, but Belle clicks her teeth all the time just like if she had false teeth that didn't fit right. I wonder if the grinding is due to a bite issue. Belle's clicking is just a habit as best I can tell.

Bella's yawns sometimes do this...it's not as regular as the "squeak" that usually accompanies a yawn, but when it happens I notice because it sounds like it would hurt. I have only heard her do it a few times. Our teeth for the most part don't overlap like theirs. I think that is all it is. Maybe being over tired and overestimating the force necessary to close up a yawn. If its not constant or regular I would think it doesn't harm them and isn't really something I would waste energy correcting.

Plus, you have bigger things to worry about...like tons of snow! ;) two days going strong over our way. I have a video to post later

My Rocky will do this when he stretches his neck, more like a clench than a grind. He is 7 and has a great bite with normal wear, so this may be what she is doing. My Molly hated things caught in her teeth and would clean them with her nails and tongue When I did Na.v.h.d.a.. with her they checked her teeth and were surprised how big her teeth were for a shorthair .She was a alpha female so I guess that was why she was born that way .She had a great sissor bite , just big teeth. Libby does similar clicking noise after yawn and such too- I thought she had something in her mouth at the time ( usually does) I just figured it was how she was closing her jaw from being stretched open. Glad to hear it might be "normal"
