Just wanted to say hello,I have been around the site a bit. I worked with a few german shorthaaired pointers and fell in love. After the sudden loss of my english redticked coonhound I decided to look into getting a GSP from a breeder in the area, or even a rescue.

After looking around quite a bit, I went with a breeder who I worked with one of her pups from her previous litter. We should be expecting our puppy to come home sometime in July/August. We are waiting very impatiently.

I love reading everyones tips on raising GSPs, as this will be my first puppy as I rescued my coonhound when she was 3. I am sure I will have plenty of questions and will definately post pictures the minute I get any (since we are still waiting for the mom to go into heat which should be soon).

Happy you joined us. Sorry about the loss of your coonhound. That's always hard. One thing is for sure, a GSP is a loveable breed that will fill and warm your heart, the little hole that's left open from your loss will be filled with wonderful memories of your coonhound. Wow, July/August is a long time. Best of luck, and send pics when you get your little guy or gal. In the mean time, my thoughts and prayers go out to you for your loss.

You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

gsplover when your young it seems like a couple months is a long time  When your ole timer like me you blink your eyes & years are flying by. Blink & the new pup will be here before you know it. This is probably the best site to learn about GSP behavior. Lot's of luck with the new pup !
