Hi!  Sorry I've been a bit distant for the last couple of weeks.  So much has happened.  We  just moved our youngest and last little child nest to Austin.  My husband and I are officially " empty nesters!"   It's a bitter sweet!  I have cleaned so much this past week, reorganzize and run many errands.  Went swimming with Maybrie weekls as well.  She is not using her leg in the water.   She still has to wear her life jacket......because she would drown without it.

I took this video last night just before leaving for work. I was on cloud 9 all night long!!   She has been testing the leg for about 1 1/2 weeks, taking small steps here and there.  Her last milestone at week 5 was such an upset!  She walked on it for about 3 steps and began 3 leg walking again until yesterday!   Major milestone!  All day yesterday, she seemed to be testing it even more, and in fact, decided she was strong enough to stand up and swing a ball on a rope!  She had so much fun with that, and because of the weight of the ball, she had to balance as it swung around.  She and Kaido, under a very controlled situation, were allowed to play tug with the rope and the ball. Kaido knows she is hurt, and he was SO gentle.  He gently tugged and pulled her around in a circle. She tugged back, trying to go in the opposite direction!  It was the perfect amount of  tension.  She did a couple of half squats and stood again, and stood and walked on the leg when tugging or moving slowly in a circle.   Last night, she walked on it even more, and I taught her the "walk" command.    We practiced only for about 5 minutes, as this was the FIRST day to consistently use her right back leg.    This morning, she is putting the foot down, balancing, pushing off, but not walking as consistently as last night......no big question as to why!  She is SORE!   My vet told me not to be too concerned if she takes a couple of steps forward, and then has a 3 day set back while the muscles rebuild themselves, and as she learns to use that leg.   It is clear that she knows that command though!  She is finally ready to begin hydrotherapy-treadmill, and daily walks on the hills at our park. I'm so excited!

Thanks!  I have to mention, because I'm sure it will come up.....she normally has her traction boots on 100% of the time while she is inside.  This filming was taken immediately after she came in from outside!  "Mom got ahead of herself and was thinking about getting a video instead of my traction boots!"  We put her boots on immediately after the video shoot! Lol!
