We're thinking about getting a dog door for Mihla so she can let herself in and out while we are gone during the day and I was looking for some advice/input from the group. We have a sliding glass door leading out to our 20x40 fenced back yard.

I'm not worried about her dragging anything in from outside, and I feel confident in her ability to dissuade any intruder from using the dog door to get into our house. There's a step down outside the sliding door, and my worry would be her tearing out the door to yell at a squirrel or sparrow and hurting herself on the step.

Anyone have any thoughts on that concern, or recommendations about brands, designs, or installation?
