Hey guys, one of the dogs (most likely Dax) got into a package of Double Bubble gum and aparently ate the whole thing (16 pieces). I know Xylitol is poisonous to dogs, but luckily there isnt any Xylitol in Double Bubble. Im debating whether or not to make him throw up or just keep an eye on him and hope it passes without any issues. Hes eaten some other questionable things in the past without any issues but I was just wondering how you think a 65lb dog can handle that much gum??

I'm no veterinarian, but I would think it should digest OK. Maybe call the ASPCA 24-hour emergency poison hotline (1-888-426-4435)?

Thanks for the help MeganD...my vet actually has an emergency number that I was able to get a hold of. I told the Dr. what happened and because there were no artificial sweeteners in the gum he said the same thing, that he should be just fine. Thanks also for the ASPCA #...Im going to keep that in my phone just in case

Good I thought it wouldn't be a problem because it is sugar not sweetener - its the xylitol that is so dangerous Now Dax! No. more. chewing.gum.

Glad to hear all should be fine. Never know with these kids. A tad late answering, but Winter Storm Draco had other ideas about my power, plus a new exercise routine clearing tree branches and 12+ inches of snow.
