Wow! Day 4 and I feel so many emotions. He is doing well. We started doing consistent crate training last night an it did not go well. He screams bloody murder. Haha. However today after I got home I feel like he got better each time. Also, today and the third walk went great and he actually seemed to enjoy himself. Life is good. I have noticed a little bit of him standing up to me. Wether it's not wanting to come inside when I'm ready or not wanting me to pick him up and backing away or not sitting like he's done so many times before with ease. I wander if its my tactics, which are very rewarding, or if its an alpha male thing. We ARE crating him but have me him sleep in the bed twice and he did VERY well. He is not 100% potty trained and hasn't pooped in the house but has peed several times. I keep reading and were getting lay down and stay down now. Any advice is always appreciated. Lovin Manziel!!

I am new to the GSP breed, had a lab. My Greta is 9 1/2 weeks old. She is getting pretty good at potty training but we are having a very hard time crate training her. She screams bloody murder. She also pee's in her kennel sometimes. That is the only place she goes in the house. She will go in her crate voluntarily during the day and is fine with the door shut as long as I am right in front of the door. I have only a few days before we have to leave her in her crate during the day while we go to work. It's taken her almost 45 minutes to settle down and then it only lasts 10 minutes. Any advice?

if she is good in the crate with you right there the next step is you do that and stay int he room but move around like do some cleaning... when she is good at that then you start moving out of the room but where she can still see you and you can move back and forth between the rooms... slowly you build up being out of the room longer and out of site longer... then you can work on going outside for yard work and coming in and out of the house, building up to being gone longer... the good news is that when you do have to leave for work yo won't be there to hear her cry so you can't cave in and let her out....

Also I like to leave a tshirt that I wore in the cage with the pup... also stuff a kong or two with peanut butter... I stuff one and freeze it and then another not frozen...
