My youngest GSP would not leave my side until she was about 10 months, I thought she had hip dysplasia or a bad heart and had her tested, she was fine. I can't remember when she exactly took off, but it was around that age, she now has a high level of sharpness, is always hunting. As we are amateurs and rely on wild birds on the hills, maybe there weren't any birds for her to scent, however, my other 4 GSP's had hunted from pups. Sonia
