Hello Torsti,
I truly love reading your posts. You
describe things of another country and traditions that are very foreign to
me.
I find many ancient paintings in the desert while I am
hunting. They are all about the hunting in the area, the
game
they hunted, and the ancient calendars. No dogs in the
paintings though. Dogs were used primarily as camp guards,
working animals,
and food. They used dogs to carry camp supplies when moving. They also date back
to around 5000 years
or so. Anasazi Indians I am told by my archeologist
friends.

I have touched the same rocks as other hunters did
in the past, some 4000 - 6000 years ago. I have photographed the message they
left to us and I feel pretty ------ what? "Historical" perhaps. The rock
painting in question represents a dog barking a moose, just like they do today.
The only difference is the weapon, a spear instead of a gun. Think about it for
a while!
That was the northern part of the story to be
written soon. There are thousends and thousends of paintings, 4000 - 6000 years
old, and carvings that are younger, say around 3000 years old in the north. Many
of them, a majority indeed, has a moose on them. Moose did not only provide food
and material for clothes and such but it was also a more or less divine
creature.
Now I only have to drive south a couple of hours
and get some pictures of rock carvings representing wild boar hunting with dogs
and then everything is set to produce some thoughts about our evolution together
with our dogs.
But first i have to get together from a more than
2000 kilometer and 6000 years long drive back in
time ))
