In my experience I prefer 'soft' dogs that are very sharp. I have no use for dogs that are not sharp no matter if they are aggressive or submissive. The sharp dog in hunting has mental stamina and will search for game no matter what the conditions are. There is a big difference in range between soft sharp dogs and aggressive sharp dogs. The soft/sharp dog will expand the range if there is no game to found close to the handler; the aggressive/sharp dog will expand the range even if there is game closer to the handler. The problem I have in hunting with aggressive/sharp dogs is that I don't like flushing birds myself while the dog is running 200 meters from me. If there are birds anywhere near me the soft/sharp dog will find them. I don't think you would appreciate an aggressive/sharp flushing dog that did all the flushing a hundred meters from you. Cj
