There are no homes to be had. That's why I said ANY good home. There are plenty that will take them for nothing.

While I think it would be nice to get all your show prospects in show homes, unfortunately the chances of that always happening is slim.
IMO, I think I would rather place a show puppy in a good pet home then hold out for one only to have it when it is 5 mths old,and harder to place. Bottom line is the puppy deserves a good home.

[gsp-l] Show Puppy Sales
While I strive to breed for correct conformation (and I've only bred/co-bred four litters) my sales have been primarily for hunting companions. This is fine as my dogs have proven themselves as good hunting specimens. I am wondering...what sells the "show dog" or are people breeding their own show dogs?
This past weekend I saw a gorgeous litter of now 5 month old puppies in need of ANY form of a good home. They have a "to die for" pedigree, all health clearances on the parents, and have all their vet checks/vaccinations good for a year. The sire and dam are reknown show dogs themselves. Unfortunately, the breeder cannot place these dogs and is trying her hardest to keep them properly socialized and trained. There are several breeders on here who are trying to help but there have been no takers. She's asking a fair price for the quality and probably below what many breedings get.
What gives? Is the market just really that bad right now? Is the market for hunting dogs bigger? Can someone suggest any other avenues to go to help move these puppies out? Any input would be appreciated and can be posted here.
I posted for a friend.
Thanks,
Tracy N.
Enjoy them every minute you have them!
