I'm very excited to share that my baby girl - Paige (Ch. Hideaway Acres Front Page News, JH) has passed her TDI therapy dog test today.   At just a couple days shy of 11 years old, Paige learned the word down yesterday and I'm still amazed that she walked over 5 plates of meat without dragging me.  (Those that know her will be shocked at that as well :)

I'm so proud of her and yes, you definitely can teach an old dogs new tricks ;)   Having a therapy dog is a fantastic way to give back and I can't wait to see the smiles Paige puts on peoples faces.

I used to have an older neighbor who was wheelchair bound and couldn't talk.  Whenever Paige went out to say hello the woman would start humming to her.  I am sure she is Paige's guardian angel who guided her thru the test stations.

Congratulations Diane on your second Therapy dog. No mean feat, especially with an 11 year old dog. I know how hard it is to pass the Therapy Dog test, I tried to do it with my oldest GSP Porter but he couldn't ignore the chihuahua with a bully stick in its mouth or the corgi with a tennis ball :-) I'm sure Paige will bring much comfort to those she visits. Diane
Good for you and your TDI dogs
Isn't nice to have something to do with our senior dogs. We have a 16 year old mix in our group and the kids are amazed when they find out how old he is.
If you have an opportunity,  try working with special needs kids. The emotional high you'll get when you see your dog and an autistic child connect is indescribable.
Enjoy your therapy work together.

That is really heartwarming Diane -- I was wondering -- now that there is an AKC therapy dog title -- if that could be another venue for the GSPCA Versatility program? It certainly is another area where Shorthairs (once they have slowed down a bit) can excel.

Thanks Sandra.  I agree, especially since the AKC now has a therapy dog title available after 50 visits.   The CGC is another venue for the Versatility program to consider.
