By asking for the information, if the individual in question wants to
be contacted it is their choice. If the information is posted to a

might inadvertently provide information when that person would have

It could be left up to the individual member whether they'd want to be on the list. The Year Books had the membership list. Anyone could have access to a Year Book. I'm not adamant about this. Just thought it would be handy to have

| Renee has made her home address, phone available. I just wanted to
contact her while she is here in Riverside this weekend to put her in
touch with some local folks who wanted to talk to her, so hoped I
could get her cell #.

| I value the annual membership book I receive from the Irish Setter Club of
America. Members are, of course, given the option of withholding info from
print. That can be managed right from a check box on the membership
application and renewal form.
I will make a point to bring this up (again) at the January Board meeting.
Those of you who are for or against should share your opinion with your
regional Director.

I also value the printed annual membership book from the Doberman Pinscher Club of America & the annual Breeders Book! That way if you get a call you can direct people looking for a pup to a breeder listed. I think it is helpful - I am sure the publishing of your information is optional.

This exact same situation arose about a month ago with the GSP Club of
Canada, regarding making the membership list available to members only. It was
suggested that an option be made (Yes or No)on our Membership Renewal form, to
allow this info to be made available. As far as I know, this was going to
be addressed at the next BOD meeting. Don’t know if that has happened
yet....
I agree with Beth and Diane. It a very useful (quick) resource for
directing puppy buyers, and keeping in touch with other members, perhaps
regarding health issues, puppy parties, etc....

| What about using the existing "Members only" section of the GSPCA.org website? Only members have a way to log in so only members could access the list.

Lorie:
I suggested that only GSPCC “members” could view the GSPCC Membership
List, that it not be posted anywhere so the general public could view it.
That was not acceptable by the persons involved with that conversation at that
time, as it was a Privacy issue, which I can fully understand .... I was
interested in seeing how many of my puppy buyers had remained GSPCC members, and
curious to see just how many members GSP Club of Canada had, from what
provinces, etc. So not sure where the Club stands right now on this
issue.

In response: This was a
Board decision not to publish the membership list anywhere because of
privacy issues. Once privacy issues are resolved and security of the
list is assured, the Board will revisit. The suggestion of an analog membership book being sent with renewals has been brought up in previous meetings.
So, it is not me! A majority decision. Please contact your Section Director about this issue. (Found on the website or in your Shorthair Journal) This is where you should voice your concerns.
