Hi Terry, For us old folks line breeding is a term that came about later in reference to dogs from a particular kennel that had established a specific phenotype and dogs/bitches from those kennels could be readily identified by their "look", hence from a particular line, i.e. line bred by using dogs that achieved this particular phenotype. These dogs did share common ancestors but not as tightly bred as inbreeding.
