Hello,
Although the topic has not been addressed here, there are a lot of emails and posts flying back and forth on various forums regarding the entry fees for the North Branch cluster. I would like to share what I know.
I spoke to Westchester's representative and they are looking into what can and should be done. There are many things to consider and many options - a lot of the behind the scene costs are already paid - catalogs, premium mailings, logistics for judges, the list is numerous and extensive and will take considerable time to put together. The cluster representatives are meeting to discuss this. I trust that they will come to a fair conclusion and have everyone's best interests in mind. From a local club perspective we have questions as well.
These are long standing clubs with solid reputations. They are not trying to take the kitty and run. My belief is they are operating on the "fairness" principle.
We all loose here, exhibitors, airplane tickets, hotels, the clubs, handlers, vendors, yadda yadda - no one wanted these shows to be cancelled, no one wanted the flooding that has devastated many areas. This is an act of God and decisions were made for the safety of all concerned. Now that a decision has been made we have a whole host of questions that need to be answered.
Two ideas I presented were to donate profits to Take the Lead. IMHO they loose the most since they are here to benefit others and this was a major fundraiser. The other idea was to reduce entry fees next year for those that enter next year. Of course another option is always partial reimbursement.
Please be patient and let's see what happens over the coming weeks.

As an officer of a club that had to cancel our shows (4) a few years back I can tell you the club still has all the expenses as if the show happened. What our club did was the next year we made our entry fees 1/2 price and didn't charge the motorhomes that had paid the canceled year to show the exhibitors we cared. Everyone was happy that we did this.

Leita, that sounds like a very fair offering. Good for your club for stepping up with a compromise.

| Thanks, Diane for addressing this. It is a very touchy subject and how right you are that there are many things indeed to consider. We've been lucky over the years to have only one day that we had our show cancelled (and it was the last day of a four day cluster). Show site looked like Katrina II when we arrived at 7 to set up rings and there was little we could do than cancel.
Hoping for a good or at least acceptable outcome for all.

Just received my entry today for The Harvest Cluster in New Jersey October 15 to 17. Is there anyone on the list who might know if there is any chances this show will be able to go as scheduled? They have also had horrendous amounts of rain. Terry Brumbaugh Endo Surgical Source, Inc 717-503-7012Tbrumbaugh@endosurgicalsource.com

Hi Terry, I think it is too soon to say and of course it will all depend on the weather over the next few weeks. We're finally seeing sun again Perhaps wait a couple of weeks until before the shows close and more will be known about the field conditions.

The storm Lee was further west than Irene and this week RT 15 which leads to Augusta, NJ was flooded & closed between Rt 94 & Rt 206. By October unless there are more tropical storms or hurricanes those grounds should be ok.
North Branch Park where the cluster was was under water from extreme flooding which happened after the tents went up on Tuesday.
