From: Barb Booher Subject: [gsp-l] Buster 1997 ~ 2010To: gsp-l@web.whc.netDate: Friday, May 21, 2010, 10:12 AM Dear Friends & Family, Yesterday at 12:45pm I said my final goodbyes to my beloved Buster aka "Butter Bean". It was a very hard decision but I knew he had given his all and just wasn't physically able to continue. Just 2 months shy of his 13th birthday, you may remember Butter had his right front shoulder and leg removed at 6 yrs old due to a soft tissue that had invaded his shoulder and was totally destroying the whole joint. After the surgery, he was a new dog. Previously, he was a very quiet dog, always staying in the background, very quiet. Two days after losing his leg, he became an exhuberant, fun-loving puppy with a zest for life! For 6 years, Butter Bean managed just great on 3 legs. I really didn't think he would make it through this past NE Ohio winter, but he was stoic and managed just fine. The past month or so, his equilibrium started to go and he was having a hard time with keeping his center of balance. I kept a close eye on him knowing the time was approaching. My dear, dear friend Carrie unselfishly took him to her home and cared for him while I attended our Nationals in Florida last week, Last year she playerd nursmaid to my dear Tucker Lee who was battling cancer and heart issues. She is an angel! I picked up Butter on Monday nite and he was happy to be home with his buds and was able to share my bed for 3 more nites before I knew I needed to preserve his dignity and send him to a pain free place to be reunited with his Mom, Paisley his sister, Shiver, and older brother Tucker. Rest peacefully my special boy. You never demanded anything and took everything in stride. Never a growl, bark or a mean look to any person or pet. You were the "Forrest Gump" of the GSP world. Love ya my Butter Bean until we meet again.... Barb/Sonnenschein"Relive the past, experience the present, shape the future"
