Hi,
Just a weird question--I just got a call from someone asking if I used a prof. handler to show my GSPs.  It turns out she is a handler from PA who was soliciting business, and claimed to prefer the GSPs from the New England area.
Is this ethical?  I didn't bother to get her name, just told her I was currently showing in BBE, and beyond that, I already have a handler I use when necessary.

I got the call also.  She is going down the GSPCA breeder list from the website.  Business must be bad.

How funny!!! I just got the same "professional handler" (Wendy from PA) calling me out here in So. CA.  She said she was calling me because she prefers the "California style dogs" and doesn't like the East Coast dogs at all.

Umm ... what does that tell you???  :-)

If that is what she charges, no wonder she needs clients. Does she think we are all isolated from one another and don't talk ?

I don't think any of those things.

Her name is:

Wendy Sasko

759 W Main St, Collegeville, PA 19426
(484) 973-6711

She is not registered with the AKC as a Professional Handler that I saw.

In May of 2008 she worked at Dog Spaw in West Virginia.  This from their web site:

"Professional groomer Wendy "Tiger" Sasko is also available, by appointment only, to beautify your pet with what she calls "the whole nine yards" of services, including hair and nails, built on her 30 years of experience."

I do not know her.  She just left her phone number in a message and I did a search.  Said she was calling about my GSP's.  You guys saved me a long distance call. Thanks.

It doesn't sound like something a professional handler would do. I did not find any reference to solicitation of clients in the PHA web site nor in AKC's Registered Handlers program.

Sounds like a 'wanna be' handler. It would be interesting to find out some information.

Her name, location, what experience she has had, recommendations.
If she wants to meet at shows or If she has kennel facilities for her clients, if you can inspect her kennel and the vehicle in which your dog would travel, who takes care of the dog when she is not available, what the dogs daily routine would be, etc

I do not think it is unethical...maybe bad form???  She will find out fast enough that we do talk to each other.
She breeds Dals and it ligit as far as the handler thing is concerned..she and her daughter both handle.  I just politely thanked her for calling and left it at that.

Thanks.

Try googling the number you have Jen and see what you come up with...

I find nothing in the way of dog stuff under the name Wendy Wayne in PA.
