I don't think there are too many people who can as much as look at their pedigrees and have four generations still living. We were so fortunate and blessed this past weekend to be able to hunt over four of our dogs at the same time - great-grandpa, grand-ma, mom and the baby boy. I know it's inappropriate to classify them as such but, they are our beloved family members and that's how we refer to them. It was a thrill turning them loose in the fields, marshes and hills of Allegany State Park and watching them put up released pheasants as well as wild birds, woodcock and grouse. All four hunted, together and mannerly, for us for two days.
When I got back out of the "dead zone", I picked up some messages with exciting news.
Schutzen's Twenty Gauge On The Dock CDX RE JH*, CGC, TDI aka "Gauge", out of our Graf x Pebbles litter (VC Graf Von Burkhart MH x CH Woodlands Gem'n I Huntabird RE SH, GSPCA VC, NAVHDA NA PZIII) finished her Junior Hunter title! Thanks to the Long Island GSP Club for giving Jeanmarie "field direction" as her niche is in obedience and she didn't know where to begin with hunt tests. It will be back to working on that UD title next.
Schutzen's Lock 'N Load aka "Ruger", out of our Ziggy x Pebbles litter (CH White River's Ziggy Stardust JH x Pebbles) picked up two more Senior Hunter legs on his second weekend out! The previous weekend, and his very first time entered in a hunt test, he also qualified both days. Thanks to Brenda Roe, trainer and handler, he's gone 4 out of 4 and needs one more leg for his SH title. I'm hearing he won't be going home until he's a finished Master.
And lastly...I heard all kinds of stories about how the litter brother to my "baby boy" is cleaning all the pheasants out of North Dakota! These kids are tearing up the fields at only 5 months old!! "Tracker" is "out nosing" the older dogs and locking down the birds they pass by. These are my Ben x Beretta babies (CH Olde Ridge Ben There Done That x CH Schutzen's Shoot To Thrill CD RE SH, GSPCA VC NRD, NAVHDA NA PZI).
Our girls have made us proud!!!
We lost our Barney three weeks ago so I hope he's enjoying all this from the fields above...
