Anybody hear of this food? Its says "Gourmet
quality" and "for those mysterious skin problems".
And first ingredient is whole ground wheat, meat
and bone meal.
I never heard of it or seen it but one of my puppy
owners is feeding it.

I have used Timberwolf and my dogs loved it and did well on it..but for a 33 pound bag for over 40 dollars and trying to feed 11 dogs I just couldn't do it..so I am using canidea and tI have noticed no difference except I can get a 40 pound bag for $25

Amen to the salmon oil. It takes some time, but that old burnt out coat which is blowing so late this year is being replaced with beautifully dark shiny liver. Petco carries the Grizzly product.
As far as digestive problems, I have a bitch who is the Queen, to the point my home diagnosis is malabsorbtion. She's been on every hi grade dog food know to mankind; did fairly well on Eagle, and better on prescription EN from Purina (@ $38 for 20#!!) Finally! Nature's Farmacy has a product called Dogzymes Digestive Enhancer which has straightened her out and allowed her to eat normal food like the rest of the gang. www.naturesfarmacy.com.

Timberwolf I think is made by Hunderflocken. I never have had any success with them. Not enough fat or protein. A terrific additive is natural salmon oil. Try either Grizzly or Salmon Treats. the dog's coats will shine, shine, shine. You can find a a good dog store or Foster's and Smith catalogue. I had a client with a puppy that had nothi! ng but digestive problems. I suggested that she switch to a quality holistic food like Eagle Pack or Canadie. After 9 months of pills and a huge vet bill this bitch is finally blossoming on Eagle pack. I have tried the new food offered at Costco, all natural Chicken and rice with good results (they have a lamb and rice also). You'll< /A> love the price $18 for 40 pounds. this product had a very high rating on one of the lists that was going around. I mix it with Eukanuba. Just an FYI

I have used Dogzymes since its inception, and every dog in my house is
better for it. It also is a great "bloat preventer."

Char,
Thanks for link on Nature's
Pharmacy.
I switched my lab over to Eukanuba sensitive skin
after she whelped in Feb and vet recommended EFA-Z plus supplement as her coat
was thinning and dull. Within a week or two, she looked absolutely
amazing. Her coat is thick and shiny, it was remarkable difference.
I have kept her on this and she has more energy and muscle tone than
ever.
Has anyone had experiences w/ Flint RIver Ranch
food? I recently bought some samples of "fish & chips" which is based
on trout and potato at a recent agility trial and my dogs went crazy over it
(treats and samples of food).
Thanks

I will also say amen to Nature's
Farmacy. I have a bitch with a summer skin issue. We had her on prednisone
for a LONG time and couldn't really shake the rash. We started using the
Nature's Farmacy Digestive Enhancers, or yellow top and brown top, as I call it,
and her coat is great. All the dogs get it now. We also feed
California Natural Lamb and Rice to the big dogs and the puppy.

I also have a bitch that seems to have an extremely sensitive
stomach/intestinal track. As best I can figure, through a lot of trial
and error, she is sensitive to rice (although liver from dog shows does
her in as well). Since many, many dog foods contain rice, I am now
feeding Natural Balance Duck and Potato Formula, happily with good
results. Fortunately, the rest of the gang is easy to feed (and they
are on Timberwolf).

I guess no one knows about Lundquist? Its supposed
to be all human grade food , the owner said they feed it because their solid
liver has skin problems, but it is drying out the puppies coat. I told her to
supliment with salmon and flaxseed oil.

This is my opinion only, but I would not feed this.
Wheat is the main ingredient and then Poultry by products the second,
followed by fat and breyers yeast.......a big yuck from me, imho.

Was at Stock Shop just now,
didn’t see that brand. I have all livers, about 6 gsp’s and no skin
problems in this terrible heat. But American sports medicine website which I am
at, has talked about more fat in sporting dog foods for years.
Mary in Px at 104, cool

food
I
guess no one knows about Lundquist? Its supposed to be all human grade food ,
the owner said they feed it because their solid liver has skin problems, but it
is drying out the puppies coat. I told her to supliment with salmon and
flaxseed oil.

i believe you may be confusing timberwolf organics with solid gold - the latter makes a food called hundenflocken, in which case i totally agree, not enough animal fat or protein. plus, to get the most benefit from that food, you must feed their "sea meal" (oceanic trace minerals) supplement, because they're designed to be used together and (when i last checked) solid gold was not adding any minerals to the hundenflocken because one was supposed to add sea meal.
timberwolf, on the other hand, is a great food IMO.
i've been a raw feeder off, and on but my crew is currently on merrick's wilderness blend, and they all look and act great, especially my super-picky older male with a history of digestive problems.

Just an FYI

My bitch gets a rash on her belly so I switched to
Solid Gold and it all went away and her coat is
great.

Char - when I spoke to Nature's Farmacy a while back they recommended feeding the digestive enhancer witht he Ultimate - they also recommended trying it on one dog and see how the rest fair.
Can I tell you I am totally 100% happy with the results. Coats are beautiful, dogs are in great weight, appetites are good and NO digestive upsets, not even a loose stool.
I feed Pro Plan Lamb & Rice and even my old girl is running strong and to quote my vet "she is in fantastic shape for her age".
So there must be something to it.
