Kathleen, Paper towels work great for the 1st week or 2, after that, plain old litter works great. You can also "fix" spraddle legs by bandaging the 2 legs so they are held about a half inch apart, if you catch it within the 1st day. Spraddle legs is caused by the chicks being on a slippery surface where they can't get sure footing, causing the "spread eagle". Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail.
