I am pleased to announce that I have Bred my personal Gundog "Dalin's Bad Moon Riz'n VD Himmel", aka. "Doodle" to "Snip's Sixth Sens Wyatt MH", aka. Wyatt. Pups should be expected end of July, beginning of August. The pups will reside in the house here for their first 8 weeks, until they are ready to go to their new homes; receiving lots of socialization with my daughters, people and other dogs; as well as initial bird intro's, water intro and a host of other foundation building blocks.
This should be a VERY, VERY nice litter of Shorthairs with plenty of snap, crackle and pop; "Full Choke" noses; lots of style with high heads and high tails and all the bidability, natural talent and personality a person could ask for. This pairing will have a COI of 18.2% in a 7 Generation Pedigree, doubling on DC, AFC, 3xNSTRA CH Gamble's Odyssey Fritz MH, RD, VCX, UT Pz2 as well as lining up on 10x NSTRA CH Snip's Ticked Off SH and Gamble's Boogie Woogie Layla; with a VERY strong foundation showing DC Hillhavens Hustler 11x, DC Esser's Duke VD Wildburg 8x, Wendy Vom Enzstrand 5x, NFC Beier's Evolution 3x, FC Ace's Prima Banane 3x and DC Timberdoodle's Lancer Answer 3x; ALL in 6 generations.
All info can be found here: ALMOST HEAVEN KENNELS

Both Wyatt and Doodle are OFA "GOOD" for Hips, OFA "NORMAL" for Elbows, OFA "NORMAL" for Thyroid and in addition, Doodle is OFA "NORMAL" for Cardiac.
Serious Competition and Hunting Homes only please. |

TY very kindly Bev A great deal of thought, research, pedigree analysis and the necessary health testing went into this breeding. I looked VERY hard at 4 DC's and 1 FC from very similar pedigree's, but when it came down to making my choice of Studs, I felt I had the very best handle on what Wyatt would produce having been able to work with him as his Trainer from the time he was just 3 months old until the present. He is 110% GSP bird dog with great structure, wonderful bidability and personality, as well as being a great representative of the Breed. At 25 months old now, he has his Master Hunter earned at 18 mo.s and both placements and wins(3 pt. Major Retrieving) in both Walking and Horseback Trials with large entries in only 5 Trial entries this Spring and has beat some of the best within the GSP Breed. Add in that he is he!! on wild birds and welllll...... Doodle was shown by me in 2 Clusters/5 Shows I believe and won points against top Breeders before I gave up Showing due to my dislike of suits and the Ring(LOL) and has been VERY successfully hunted on wild Ruffed Grouse, Woodcock, Sharptail Grouse, Prairie Chickens and Pheasants. Were I to guess, she's had 500+ birds "shot AT"(LOL) over her points. I've spent the past 2 years carefully considering a Stud for her and to say I'm excited about this pairing is a sincere under statement! These should be some AWESOME Dual capable pups for someone looking for such a candidate. As an aside, I'm asking for serious Competition and Hunting homes, not because I don't believe there are GREAT pet homes, but because it is critical to my program to know what this pairing produces over the long haul. |

Holy crap, there are lots of babies in there! How many did the vet guess? Can't really tell from a photo, although I'm usually pretty accurate from the actual film. My guess is somewhere in the 10-12 range?
Can't wait to see photos, these will be nice babies!

Jean, Vet counted the easy 8+ and said he suspected 10-12. I imported the X-ray into Paint Shop Pro and started marking to come up with 11, but there is an awfully big spot in the middle with quite a few spines and no obvious skulls, so I suspect there may be even 1 or 2 more that have their backs turned to the x-ray. SHEESSSSHHHHHHH! I have a feeling that the pups will strongly resemble the pups from the litter Brenda posted in VA. and to say I'm excited to get a sneak peek of what may come from this breeding, is a huge understatement! |

Oh boy!! We had 11 three times, and made it through without bottle feeding, although I started feeding mush they could lap up as soon as they got teeth. My unsolicited advice is to stuff that mama full of rich food, starting now so she doesn't turn into a skeleton and also makes loads of milk. Happy to help with recipes if you need - email me. |

Doodle blessed us with a HUGE litter of 15 Shorthairs today. 5 Lil Lasses and 10 Lil Gents! This is a pairing I've been working towards for years and to say I'm proud as Hell, would be an understatement! Without further ado:

Jean,
I'll email you to see if you have any different recipes than I, as I think the gal is going to need all the help she can get! Already planning to suplement to help her! |

HOLY CRAP!! I didn't see this until now. 15 is just incredible. I'll say a prayer for your sanity and health and also that you can keep them all going. I'll send you some info from home tonight.
One quick point - if you have to bottle feed, I have yet to see or hear about a pup that likes that crappy powdered milk replacer. Goat's milk is much more readily accepted and you can buy it at the grocery store.

| Boy, I can't imagine 15. I know what it was like with 11. WOW!!! You can get canned goats milk at Walmart and it is a good price too. My grocery store didn't carry goats milk. |
