CH Madrone Heavenly Halo CD CGC (Halo) will be bred to CH Southwind's American Pie MH (Buddy) in the Summer/Fall of 2010.
This breeding should produce strong conformation and performance pups.

This will be Halo's first litter. Halo has proven herself in the conformation ring and in the obedience ring. She was last years High in Trial Obedience dog at the GSPCA Nationals in Denver. Her sire (DC Oddyssey's Air Jordan) was also just named Obedience Sire of the Year for 2009 by the GSPCA. Halo also comes from very strong hunting lines and has many Dual Champions (including her sire) in her pedigree.
Halo is Cardiac Clear, CERF Normal, OFA Good hips, OFA Elbows Normal
Buddy also comes from strong conformation and performance lines. Buddy finished his Championship very quickly winning 3 majors. He was also the Sweepstake winner at the German Shorthair Club of San Antonio show. Buddy is a Master Hunter and has earned his NRD water retrieving title. Buddy lives at home with his family at Southwind.

Lots of luck! Sounds like a very nice match. Our first breeding was last year and it gave me a healthy respect for good breeders. I used a service called Whelpwise which I would recommend to anyone, even seasoned breeders. Here's the website if you want to look into it. http://www.whelpwise.com/

| Valerie - Thanks I had already seen their website. I am working on a whelping box. My dad is a great carpenter so he is helping me build one. I have been looking at lots of designs and taking what I like from each one. I liked the box at this site and one other so I am looking at building one very similar. Any other recommendations? |

I used their and uterine contraction monitor and ultrasound doppler - it was VERY helpful, especially when there was a lengthy delay between puppies. We thought we were all done, but there were two more to come! How nice that your dad can build a box for you. We had a carpenter friend build ours, similar to the Whelpwise design.
Get ready to have your world turned upside down! It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!

| Neat site! I acquired a wooden whelping box from a former Weim breeder and friend. It's really worked well and been used for several BC litters as well as my 3 GSP litters. |

| Waiting, waiting on Halo's progesterone numbers to go up. Good thing I am testing as it is day 12 and she has not hit the magic number of 5 yet (she is .9). If I had bred her at 9 days or so she probably wouldn't have taken because she has not yet ovulated. The vet says they can ovulate as soon as 3 days (pretty rare) or go as long as 28 days before ovulation (again pretty rare). So we will test her again tomorrow. Hopefully she will get there soon. |
