I haven't noticed much new on the Blog-front, but figured I would try to write my own, and see what happens! So, now, the question is, WHERE DO I START?!? Guess the beginning would be good!
To be fair (to the electronic-based formats like blogs), I do keep a paper journal of my efforts with my dog, Sadie. Growing up with hunting dogs, we have always wished we had a record of important information, so that we could compare, and contrast dogs in our past. From experience, most memories turn to legends, and eventually to fables (the big-fish story of the blue-gill the size of Rhode Island...). No dog alive can compete with fabled-hunts of dogs past. I imagine this blog would be an echo of the journal.
Sadie began as pretty much a thought (the perverbial twinkle in our eye) after our previous GSP, Sophie passed from liver cancer (presumably) in September of 2010. Sadie was born into the litter of Turbo Max, and Gretchen of Winkleman's Gun Dogs in Rockford, IL. We picked her out based upon nothing more than an e-mail photo on September 23rd. When we saw Sadie for the first time, she was in a laundry basket with her litter-mates, and she fit in the palm of my hands (see picture(?)). She was introduced to a Pheasant Wing on October 17th, and we brought her home on November 13th. Her first day home, she slept (mostly). We had my nephews over (who announced they had adopted a dog themselves), and we all watched, "How to Train Your Dragon".
I think that is good enough to describe "the beginning". More to follow (maybe).
