Well the weather has become a bit more pleasant. Adie was able to to get out and do some real training. She needed a bit of a tune up after being locked up for the past month. She actually swam in a lake....and liked it. She was retrieving like a champ from the water. I also caught her pointing!!!! Pointing wild birds. Three cheers!!! Ok so they were ducks swimming in the tall weeds. But I will take it.
I have been doing alot of contemplating about sending Adie to a trainer. I contacted the breeder/trainer that Adies' dad came from, and she is no longer training. She did put in touch with someone who is working with a few other pups from the same litter as Adie. I spoke with him and I got a really good vibe, and i think we will make a trip to check out his place. I just have not been able to fully justify the cost. I keep thinking about things in weeks of daycare and the cost of strollers, cribs....baby stuff. Plus I haven't been feeling very in my training capabilities. I would call it a confidence issue. Until yesterday. A good friend of mine and duck hunting buddy has a beautiful british lab. A lab who is "professionaly trianed" hunting machine. Adelaide and I stopped by to vist yeaterday. Adie had not met Hunter(the lab) and was looking forward to meeting a new playmate. Hunter was very excieted and his owner tried to gain a bit of control by asking his lab to heel. Miss Adie was very happy to obey him. I almost had to laugh. I ask her to heel and she instantly complied. My buddy was 'persuading' Hunter to listen. Each time he requested Hunter to heel Adie would quickly run to his side before Hunter could make it. I have a very obedient little pup. I was very proud. I won't be sending her to a trainer. I have a line on birds and I am going to train her myself.
