The beginning of an interesting journey
Finding Pepper By hanfords on 12/28/2007 2:39 PM

We must have a thing for German dogs.  Our family of five purchased a miniature German Schnauzer (yes, I know this is supposed to be about GSP's!!) about 13 years ago from a pet store. At the time, we had no idea about rescue shelters or anything like that, we just knew that we wanted a mini schnauzer.  Well, time passed and our loving family dog grew old, he grew blind and deaf.  He got around great, played and ate as usual, but of course couldn't see us or hear us call his name. I was very upset that he was getting older and there came a day that he didn't want to eat. Two days passed and still didn't eat. Opening day of bird season!!
Life with German Shorthairs By Ace1cappuccino on 9/15/2007 10:06 PM

Well, today was the first day of small game season here in Michigan. I took Hunter out this afternoon after work. Ran into a couple other people in one of my favorite spots so we went elsewhere. Hard to see those Partridge with all those leaves on the trees still. Hunter did good though. He ran onto the first grouse but then he realized what we were there for and got his game face on. We ended up getting 3 grouse today and had alot of fun doing it. There are alot of birds this year but the normal places are not there this year. All the berries have long gone so we hit the edges of the swamp. There are still a few woodcock around but we like the grouse much better. We are headed out in the morning again. Who knows maybe we'll find some more.
